About the Journal

Brief History of the Journal

The ADSU Journal of Accounting and Finance (AJAF) has its origins as the ADSU Journal of Accounting Research (AJAR), first launched by the Department of Accounting, Adamawa State University, Mubi, as an academic platform to promote indigenous scholarship in accounting and related fields. The journal was established to meet the growing demand for scholarly communication and research dissemination within the Nigerian academic and professional accounting community.

Originally published under the title AJAR, the journal primarily focused on empirical and theoretical research in accounting and auditing. As the scope of the journal expanded to encompass broader themes in finance, taxation, corporate governance, public sector accounting, and emerging issues in digital finance, the name was officially changed to ADSU Journal of Accounting and Finance (AJAF) in line with its broader interdisciplinary outlook and increasing national and international relevance.

Since its rebranding, AJAF has grown steadily in quality, editorial structure, and contributor base, attracting manuscripts from scholars and practitioners across Nigeria and beyond. AJAF continues to reflect its foundational mission to foster innovation, critical inquiry, and professional excellence in accounting and finance through the publication of impactful, policy-relevant, and practice-oriented research.
