Abstract

This study examined the impact of green accounting on the financial performance of listed consumer goods companies in Nigeria. The study Employed a quantitative research method and utilized secondary data obtained from the audited financial report of nine (9) listed consumer goods companies in Nigeria for a period of 5 years from 2020-2024. The Study used Pearson correlation and Multiple regression analysis to test the three proposed hypothesis. The findings revealed a mixed relationship between green accounting practices’ financial performance, indicating that green accounting practices do not currently translate into improvements in financial performance among the firms within the period studied. The study recommended that listed consumer goods companies in Nigeria should prioritize investing in green accounting practices and policy makers should promote regulatory incentives and enforcement mechanism that encourage firms to practice green accounting.
